Our Medical Administration course is designed for those wishing to increase or upgrade their skills and knowledge to work in a medical office, hospital, specialist medical practice or as administration/front office personnel. You will learn about the medical culture, medical terminology and how a practice works.
NB: There are 2 units of competency delivered; Interpret and apply medical terminology appropriately [BSBMED301B] and Prepare and process medical accounts [BSBMED302B]. Students may choose to do either unit independently if they wish.
Course Fee: $550 (this includes both units)
Class size approximately 12-20.
Successful completion of the course will give participants an increased awareness of the needs and role of medical receptionist and of practice management.
run over 4 Saturdays
10.00am - 1.00pm = Interpret and apply medical terminology appropriately
1.30pm - 4.30pm = Prepare and process medical accounts
This unit will teach you how to understanding medical terms, procedures and specialists including prefixes, suffixes, root words, abbreviations, basic anatomy, introduction to body systems (Integumentary, Endocrine, Cardiovascular, Lymphatic, Urinary, Digestive, Respiratory, Nervous & Reproductive)
This unit will teach you how to maintain timely and concise booking systems.
Process Medicare, Veterans' affairs and private billing procedures and understand patient item numbers, fee structures and maintain patient filing systems.
You will also learn about delivering customer service and developing communication skills within the medical practice as well as
maintaining confidentiality and privacy issues surrounding a patients health, personal care and record management.
