Overview

The Perform Intravenous Cannulation - HLTPAT409C unit is for those wishing to develop their cannulation skills. 

We recommend students who wish to complete this unit of competency meet one of the following criteria;

1. Previous experience collecting venous blood samples in a health care environment
2. A qualification or experience in health care
3. A health care professional required to perform cannulation techniques for their currect work

Class size approximately 4-15.

Weekday or weekend: run over 1 day

Students must be able to demonstrate cannulation techniques in a workplace to successfully achieve competency.

Course content

Perform intravenous cannulation - HLTPAT409C

This unit is concerned with the knowledge and skills required for the technique of performing intravenous cannulation for sample collection.  

Work performed requires a broad knowledge base and the ability to apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems. Individuals will take responsibility for the quantity and quality of their work.

All tasks are conducted in accordance with organisational policies and procedures including OHS and infection control guidelines.
This is a hands-on training course and we encourage participation in class, practical demonstrations and activities.

For groups of 4 or more we can arrange a trainer to deliver at your workplace.
